No question about it: as recessions go, this one’s been a Force Ten, Category Five, batten down-the-hatches monster. At times the headwinds seem so strong it’s tempting to just curl up and wait it out. But that won’t keep you afloat. You have to get up on deck and face the storm. You have to fight.
This kind of battle has been won more times than you might think. Procter and Gamble emerged during the Panic of 1837. IBM was founded in the first year of the Long Depression. United Technologies was born during the Great Depression. Few people seem to remember The Mirage opened just in time for the 1990 recession, and all it did was launch the modern era of Las Vegas prosperity.
Lurking somewhere in the gloom of this tumultuous economy is Opportunity. Yes, that’s a capital “O.” There may be fewer customers now. But there are customers. You just need to make more of them your customers.
Shine your shield. Brighten your brand. If you choose to fight, we’ll fight with you.
